Making Student's Prom Dress
While I am waiting for my big project to be realized..
In the mid of May, my student came up to me with a request to make for her a prom dress. She showed me a picture of a Philippine student. She said she wanted to wear something like this for her graduation ball.
My student was assertive even though she might knew of my inexperienced skills.
At the end... I agreed. Each of us draw the picture of the whole look and chose one, and we chose hers.
The next day we went to shop the textile. I sent her some color palettes to decide; burgundy color was her final choice. She bought 4 meters of burgundy satin.
Then we added to our shopping list: boning, lining textile, netting fabric, threads, and interlining for making it look strong.
I made the skirt in several days, however, then I have discovered my own mistakes, so I had to remake the skirt again. And this time I added interlining and lining to each pleat;
I should have finished making the dress by 15th of June, however, the day when my student came for fitting, the zipper didn't work!! And I had to change the zipper as quick as possible.
After several fittings we made it! Then she painted all colorful flowers with acrylic paints. And ta... daam ... everything became possible ❤💖
